Student life & housing

Students live together in furnished 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom and 3 Bedroom/2 Bathroom apartments in Park La Brea, a beautiful gated community adjacent to Beverly Hills. Park La Brea is near the LAFSC facilities and is walking distance to grocery stores, a post office, pharmacies, medical facilities, museums, shopping centers, a farmer’s market, concert venues, and multiple historic movie theaters.

Students will need to bring their own linens, pillow, and bedspread for a single (twin) bed, bath towels (dish towels are provided), clothes hangers, school supplies, and computer. You may also want to consider bringing an iron or small steamer (no board is provided but can be purchased in LA), Laundry basket or bag, detergent, and dryer sheets, (washer/dryers are on site at the Park La Brea Apartments).

Basic furniture such as beds, dressers, a dining table w/chairs, couch, side tables, etc., will be provided in addition to things like TVs, microwaves, toasters, dishware, etc.

While not required, we encourage you to bring a vehicle to LA to have during the semester of LAFSC. Having a car will open up more options for internships and navigating the city. Parking passes at the apartments and facilities will be provided to students with vehicles. No car? No problem. We have many students who thrive at LAFSC without a vehicle, primarily carpooling with roommates who have cars, using rideshare services, or taking advantage of LA’s public transit system.

facilities

In order to provide students with the most real-world, embedded Hollywood experience, LAFSC’s semester facilities are on working studio lots. LAFSC instruction and meetings happen next door to active sound stages. Students badge in and out to attend classes, hold auditions, plan production meetings, and shoot projects on Hollywood lots full of large-scale film & television production activity. In the past, we have operated out of the historic Sunset Las Palmas Studio and the Sunset Gower Studio lots where movies and shows have been shot for 100 years.
