Internships
LAFSC has more than 30 years’ worth of industry connections that our program directors Chris and Sarah leverage in matching students personally with hands-on, quality internships that fit their skills, experience, and vocational goals.
Along with working side-by-side with top industry professionals, students participate in an internship support class designed to help them develop themselves professionally and glean the most from this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Internships take place on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays for a total of 20-24 hours a week, earning students 6 credit hours for the semester.
Courses
In addition to their internships, students will take a course on Faith and Artistic Development (3 credits) and choose one of the following electives:
- Narrative Storytelling (3 credits)
- Professional Screenwriting (3 credits)
- Professional Acting for the Camera (3 credits)
Finally, the Hollywood Production Workshop (4 credits) splits students into production teams that each receive a budget to produce a festival-ready short film that will premiere at an industry-attended event at the end of the semester.
Spring 2025
The spring 2025 semester hosted students from 10 different colleges and universities across the country. Classes were held on a working studio lot that has served as a shooting location for over a century of film and television.
LAFSC’s students were taught by faculty with both a first-hand knowledge of LAFSC and the industry as professionals working with Apple+, Warner Bros., NBC/Universal. MarVista Entertainment, Monkeypaw Productions, and John Legend’s Get Lifted Film Company, among others. Each student completed an internship, including positions with Anaheim Studios, AbelCine, Salute Your Shorts Film Festival, Laymon’s Terms, and ProKey Entertainment.
Several recent students have already accepted work in the industry over the summer through either their internships or contacts made while studying at LAFSC, with several more planning to return to Los Angeles over the coming year.
